PIR & PUR Insulation Suppliers, Saudi Arabia
PIR & PUR Insulation boards (Polyisocyanurate and Polyurethane rigid foam) are high-performance thermal insulation products offering the lowest thermal conductivity of any commonly used building insulation material. They are widely specified for GCC flat roofs, wall insulation, and cold storage where achieving required U-values within minimum thickness is critical. PIR offers superior fire performance compared to PUR, making it the preferred choice for building applications.

PIR (Polyisocyanurate) and PUR (Polyurethane) rigid foam insulation boards are manufactured by reacting isocyanate with polyol in the presence of blowing agents and catalysts, producing a rigid closed-cell foam with excellent thermal performance. PIR boards achieve thermal conductivity as low as 0.022 W/mK — the best of any rigid board insulation. PIR is chemically modified polyurethane with improved fire resistance and char-forming properties. Boards are faced with aluminium foil, glass tissue, or composite facings to enhance fire performance and provide a vapour barrier.
In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, PIR insulation is the premium choice for flat roof insulation (achieving required U-values in thinner build-ups than mineral wool or polystyrene), wall insulation in thermally efficient facade systems, cold store and clean room panel cores, and industrial pipe and equipment insulation. Key specifications include thermal conductivity (lambda at 10 degrees Celsius mean temperature), compressive strength, fire classification (PIR typically achieves Class B or C per BS EN 13501-1 — better than PUR which is typically Class D or E), and long-term thermal resistance (LTTR for aged performance).
Major PIR and PUR insulation manufacturers in the GCC market include Kingspan (Therma range), Xtratherm, IKO (Enertherm), Recticel, and regional producers. PIR boards are increasingly the default roof insulation specification on GCC commercial buildings due to their ability to achieve code-required U-values in the thinnest possible build-up. Procurement managers should compare products on long-term thermal resistance (not just initial lambda value, as blowing agent diffusion degrades performance over time), verify fire test certificates for the specific facing configuration, and ensure compatibility with the roof waterproofing membrane (some adhesives and solvents attack foam insulation). Lead times from regional stock are 2 to 4 weeks.
