Circuit breakers are automatic switching devices that detect and interrupt overcurrent and short-circuit faults, protecting downstream cables, equipment, and personnel from damage and electrical fire. Every electrical panel in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, from a villa distribution board to a refinery main switchboard, relies on correctly rated circuit breakers as the primary line of defence against electrical faults.
Circuit breakers are categorized by voltage class: miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) protect individual circuits in distribution boards, moulded case circuit breakers (MCCBs) serve as main protection in sub-distribution and motor feeders, and air circuit breakers (ACBs) protect main busbars in switchboards. Key specifications include rated current, breaking capacity (kA), trip curve (B, C, or D for MCBs; adjustable thermal-magnetic or electronic trip units for MCCBs and ACBs), number of poles, and frame size.

Verify that selected breakers are listed on the relevant utility authority's approved product list. For industrial applications requiring advanced protection features, specify electronic trip units that provide adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground fault protection settings (LSI or LSIG) to enable precise coordination with upstream and downstream devices.
